Welcome to Estonian Spas!

The history of Estonian resorts spans two centuries and the first mud baths were opened in Estonia in the 1920s. Due to the existence of shallow coves, therapeutic mud is abundant in many regions of Estonia and its curative power was known in folk medicine already in the distant past.

The Estonian Spa Association unites 15 high-quality spa enterprises. There are many historically developed resort towns and regions in Estonian for a country this small – besides Pärnu, Haapsalu, Kuressaare and Narva-Jõesuu, you are also awaited in Tallinn, Viimsi, Toila, Värska and Pühajärve. There certainly are places to choose from!

Estonian spas are visited by more and more clients every year, both from Estonia and abroad. In 2005, more than 270 000 customers visited the enterprises belonging in the Estonian Spa Association, who stayed for ca 1 030 000 days in total. Ca 80% of the clients of Estonian spas are foreigners (Finns, Swedes, Germans, Russians, Norwegians etc.). The Estonian Spa Association is also a member of the European Spas Association.

Estonian spas are more and more becoming leisure centres rather than mere treatment centres, where one can also enjoy wellness services in addition to curative treatments, be engaged in various healthy leisure activities or simply to rest and have a pleasant time.

A spa holiday helps forget daily concerns, provides exhilarating experiences and allows to obtain energy and nurse the mind and well as the body.
